Shelly Wollerman

Founder of Soteria Training Solutions

Shelly Wollerman has always been passionate about working outdoors. Growing up on a dairy farm, she loved being outside and getting her hands dirty. After gaining experience with a landscape company, Shelly moved to a new city, where she discovered her interest in tree care. Fascinated by the challenges of working with chainsaws and navigating the unique hazards of tree care, she set a personal goal to be fully prepared for any emergency on the job site.

To enhance her skills, Shelly trained with industry leaders in aerial rescue and organized biannual training sessions at her workplace. She also became a volunteer EMT to better handle medical emergencies in the field. During her 10+ years of experience as a production arborist for residential and commercial properties, Shelly also competed in tree climbing competitions at chapter and international levels, further honing her expertise and deepening her passion for safety and rescue.

Shelly’s dedication to safety led her to join a national training company specializing in the tree care industry, where she instructed courses on Electrical Hazard Awareness, Emergency Preparedness, Aerial Rescue, Chainsaw Operations, First Aid/CPR/AED, and OSHA-30 General Industry. Always seeking to improve, she pursued advanced training through the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), completing Wilderness First Aid and an intensive 30-day Wilderness EMT course, earning licenses as both a Basic EMT and Wilderness EMT.

In 2023, Shelly combined her extensive tree care and medical training to develop specialized courses tailored to the tree care industry. Her hands-on, participatory programs prepare professionals to manage injuries effectively until emergency services arrive. With a focus on real-world scenarios, Shelly equips tree care workers with the skills and confidence to respond swiftly and effectively in the face of emergencies.
